CINEMANIA is organizing a screening event and will donate a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales to the One Drop Foundation.

ABOVE WATER

As part of the festival selection of ABOVE WATER, by actress and activist Aïssa Maïga, CINEMANIA is partnering with the One Drop Foundation, an international philanthropic organization whose’s mission is to ensure sustainable access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene for some of the most vulnerable communities through innovative partnerships, creativity and the power of art.

CINEMANIA is proud to participate in a fundraiser with the One Drop Foundation, which will receive a portion of the box office receipts for screenings of ABOVE WATER.

Shown as a North American premiere at CINEMANIA in the documentary competition, ABOVE WATER, takes a look at Northern Niger is a fragile region, vulnerable to drought. Everyone is fighting to gain access to water which is becoming more and more difficult. 

The film was also part of the "Cinema for Climate" section at the Cannes Film Festival 2021.

The One Drop Foundation is known for its unique Social Art for Behaviour Change™ approach that recognizes the impact of art on social development and on the sustainability of water project. The foundation is honoured to have been chosen as charity of choice by CINEMANIA pour this fundraising initiative that features documentaries about crucial present day issues.

CINEMANIA will donate to the One Drop Foundation $1.00 for each ticket sold for the November 13th screening at the Outremont Theatre and for the November 14th and 18th screenings on its streaming platform accessible across Canada.
