Cinema as a Tool for the Transmission and Preservation of Diaspora Memories
As part of its conferences this year, the NAWAL Association invites reflection on the theme of the diaspora. This discussion will highlight the essential role of cinema in preserving and transmitting cultural, historical, and personal memories. Through the experiences of speakers from North African and West Asian diasporas with diverse artistic backgrounds, we will explore how cinematic storytelling transforms into living archives, safeguarding stories often marginalized by dominant narratives.
We will examine how these works contribute to building fragments of collective memory, ensuring the transmission of stories across generations. Cinema will be considered not only as an artistic expression but also as a space of resistance, revealing how these creations can resonate over time, enriching our understanding of shifting identities.
This event is free and open to everyone with registration.
