The ethnologist Marie-José Tubiana has been receiving refugees from Darfur into her home for the past ten years. Her knowledge of this territory of Sudan, which she has been exploring since 1965, allows her to trace villages that have disappeared from the maps and to prove to the French authorities the origin of those who visit it. They can thus hope to receive political asylum. At over the age of 90, the woman continues to help the people who have given her so much. But who will take over her role? La Combattante, the Grand Prize for National Documentary at this year's Biarritz International Festival of Audiovisual Documentary Programs, is a documentary directed with great sensitivity by filmmaker Camille Ponsin (Le Droit au baiser).
