HARKIS

In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the Algerian war continued. Salah, Kaddour and other young Algerians with no financial means join the French army as "harkis". They are led by Lieutenant Pascal. The outcome of the conflict suggests that Algeria will soon become independent. And in this context, the fate of the harkis seems very uncertain. Pascal confronts his superiors to obtain the return of all the men in his unit to France. Philippe Faucon (Cesar for best film for Fatima in 2016) carefully traces, in a refined and controlled setting, the tragic fate of the harkis and their families.
