Jacques, an actor drowning in debt, has to flee Montreal to avoid his creditors. He ends up on a secluded farm run by Simon. Jacques has no choice but to accept a “contract” to help the farmer harvest his crop of cannabis on time. Despite a rough start in the dead of winter, Jacques and Simon form an unlikely bond that benefits them both. Added to the mix is Francesca, a sharp-witted young woman who ends up inserting herself into the business. A tenuous harmony is achieved, but sooner or later it will be disrupted by the intrusion of the outside world.
CINEMANIA's opinion:
After ROUTE 132, Louis Bélanger again reveals his affection for duos on the margins. Gilles Renaud and Alexis Martin, who end up a trio when a female character enters the scene, are absurd, comical and touching, all at once. Isolation and wide open spaces, also beloved and recurring aspects of the filmmaker’s work, are given a central place in this surprising comedy.
