Vacationing in the French countryside. Daphne, three months pregnant, finds herself alone to welcome Maxime, her boyfriend François’ cousin. François had to leave in a hurry for Paris to cover for a sick colleague. For four days, while waiting for his return, Daphne and Maxime get to know each other and share their very intimate past and present love stories that bring them closer...
CINEMANIA’s opinion:
After his grandiose MADAME DE JONCQUIÈRES, Emmanuel Mouret returns to the 21st century by exploring the facets of the feeling of love and the prism of desire, his favourite subjects, with the same virtuosity.
LOVE AFFAIRS deploys with finesse the light-hearted gallantries of the contemporary era against a subtle backdrop of the Rohmerian atmosphere. Mouret places the spectator / voyeur face to face with an exhilarating ballet of tales of feelings, elegantly told through well-written dialogues, tinged with sophisticated humor and carried by a myriad of exceptional actors: Camélia Jordana (NIGHT RIDE) is breathtaking, Niels Schneider shines in confused candor, Guillaume Gouix, powerful as a cad in spite of himself, and Vincent Macaigne finds here one of his best roles. Emilie Dequenne, deeply moving, closes this romantic film with brilliance.
Great Mouret.
