POST MORTEM

Linda and Ghislain meet under disturbing circumstances. Linda, a mother by day and a bad girl at night, is scrambling to save as much money as possible so she can move to the country with her five-year-old daughter. Ghislain, a recluse, has built a life of routine, the only bright moments coming from listening to blues records. “With its three-part narrative structure, portraying the story’s present and past in turn, the film creates a kind of puzzle that viewers will take a twisted pleasure in solving” (Charles-Henri Ramond, Films du Québec).

In POST MORTEM, Louis Bélanger’s powerful and original first feature film, the director continues to explore his favourite themes and follows his fascination with those whose society leaves behind and others who exist on the margins. The resulting film includes a wonderful role for Gabriel Arcand, captivating as a solitary man wrongly accused of rape and leading a purposeless existence.
