THE LIVING WITNESSES

October 16, 1941. Detained in the Abbey of Cinqfontaines, the sole internment facility for Jews in Luxembourg during WWII, 323 citizens of Jewish origin are deported to Łódź in Poland. Only 12 of them will return. Before the Occupation, about 3,500 Jews lived in the country. While some fled to Portugal, two thirds of them lost their lives. This documentary follows three young students of today as they embark on a journey to discover this difficult moment in history. Guided by Claude Marx, former president of the Jewish Consistory of Luxembourg, they will travel across Europe and meet survivors of the deportation. Together, they will learn how crimes against humanity still play a considerable role in the collective consciousness today.
