France
Paris today. Warm summer days that director/co-screenwriter Mikhaël Hers captures so realistically on-screen that we almost feel the heat. David (Vincent Lacoste), 24-years old and somewhat immature, juggles several jobs, among them part-time municipal tree-trimmer and “Airbnb host”. It’s a modest yet busy enough life until something better comes along. Without warning, his beloved sister is killed in a terrible tragedy and David is left to look after his precocious and understandably distraught 7-years old niece Amanda (child-star Isaure Multrier).
Both leads, Lacoste and Multrier display remarkable on-screen chemistry in what is a tour-de force in acting. Director Mikhaël Hers delivers an intimate and emotional gem of a movie, movingly and touchingly filmed.
