A gifted student and the pride of her community, Astrid suddenly returns to Saint-
Boniface, Manitoba, with only one semester left at university in Montreal, and announces she won’t be returning: she’s failing her classes miserably.
Humiliated, Astrid contemplates her uncertain future and, for the first time in her life,
feels lost. Then, slowly, her younger sister Stella and a certain handsome bookseller, as
well as the entire community she thought she’d left behind forever, help her discover
herself in a new light.
