Bouchra explores the deep yet conflicted relationship between Bouchra, a young Moroccan artist finding her voice in cinema, and her mother, a cardiologist in Casablanca. Filmmakers Orian Barki and Meriem Bennani blend real conversations with their own mothers into a striking hybrid of documentary and animation. By transposing their characters into coyote forms, they create a bold and poetic reflection on love, distance, and maternal bonds. The result is one of the year’s most original and emotionally resonant queer films.
