Sybille, (Virginie Efira) a divorced mother, is increasingly disturbed by her son Samuel’s descent into a meaningless and delinquent life of petty crime and gratuitous violence. Her solution to save her son (and perhaps herself), is to depart together on a lengthy “roadtrip” to the remote mountains of Kyrgyzstan on horseback. With only their two horses for companionship, mother and son (Kacey Mottet-Klein) challenge a wild landscape as magnificent as it is hostile, encountering banditry and discovering the nomadic tribal people of Central Asia.
Award-winning Belgian director Joachim Lafosse’s moving film features great cinematography and a screenplay adaptation by writer Laurent Mauvignier of his own eponymous novel.
