A 2nd road movie with Gérard Depardieu by renowned writer-director Bertrand Blier, 45 years after the first one! This time it’s a tag-team with comic star Christian Clavier playing Foster, a richly-dressed cuckolded husband, and Depardieu as Taupin, a loser almost in rags. These two perfect strangers meet in a traffic jam and begin discussing a potential screenplay for a movie (actually for the one we’re watching!).
Lots of surrealism, libidinous humour and sexism is on display, but then again these two are aging lost souls and can perhaps be forgiven for living in the past.
The film is effectively an easygoing satire (hilarious at times), about today’s “corporate” filmmaking process.
