Growing up, Manuel (Matthias Schoenaerts) and Driss (Reda Kateb), were inseparable. They were like close-knit brothers in their deprived high-rise slum neighborhood. Strangely enough, these guys end-up taking opposite paths – Manuel is today a drug-dealer and Driss, a cop. Suddenly, Driss is back on the local scene – he’s newly appointed as a captain in the elite French Brigade National des Stupéfiants (Stups). One of Manuel’s deals goes terribly wrong and these old buddies have a dangerous dilemma on their hands.
Director and screenwriter extraordinaire, David Oelhoffen, (Far from men, CINEMANIA 2014) actually accessed a narcotics gang to gain authenticity – there’s nothing to romanticize about a dealer’s life since fear abounds, unceasingly.
