Nathalie Pêcheux (pricelessly portrayed by Karin Viard), is a newly-divorced French literature professor. We watch her transform from a thoughtful and considerate person into a creature consumed by pathological jealousy. Nathalie’s first target is her beautiful 18-year old ballet-dancer daughter Mathilde (Dara Tombroff from the Ballet de l’Opera National de Bordeaux), and her resentfulness soon expands to include her friends, her colleagues, and even her neighbours.
Directors/screenwriters David and Stéphane Foenkinos create a crowd-pleasing film, a dark and frequently hilarious comedy crossed with a psychologically suspenseful drama. We bear witness to a woman’s life turning upside down.
