Ella (Stacy Martin), meets Abel (Tahar Rahim), and her life is upended as he leads her into an underground Parisian world of illicit gambling wherein money and the thrill of adrenaline-rush reign supreme. Their overwhelming passion for one another disintegrates into gambling addiction in a parallel world where culture, age, class language, religion and nationality matter not. Abel is most fascinating because compulsive gamblers have no conception of money – it’s the life-style they’re addicted to. Ella keeps coming back for more abuse, certain she can save him despite his lying, scheming and thievery.
