Verderonne, a village north of Paris. The 1st day of summer, and Claire Darling, (Catherine
Deneuve) believes it’s her last day on earth. She empties-out her house, laying-down all her favourite objects on her front lawn in a giant garage sale – neighbours and passers-by fight over ridiculously underpriced antiques! Each object marks an important moment in Claire’s flamboyant and tragic life. Claire’s estranged daughter Marie, (Chiara Mastroianni) who she has not seen in 20 years, is alerted to stop the sale – will she discover the reasons behind her mother’s eccentric behaviour and unearth the secrets of her wealthy family’s past?
Director/co-screenwriter Julie Bertuccelli’s dramatic comedy is an adaptation of author Lynda Rutledge’s novel.
