Dr. Jenny Davin (Adèle Haenel), is haunted by the death of a young woman, an unidentified immigrant found dead near the door of Davin’s clinic in Liège, Belgium. By not opening her door to admit the desperate after-hours patient, did Davin’s negligence cause the woman’s death? She obsesses about identifying the dead immigrant, something the police have failed to do. She wants to avoid the ignominiousness of an anonymous burial. An unidentified grave would almost mean that this young woman had never existed.
