Lola is an 18-year old transgender woman, estranged from her parents, and on the eve of her final operation learns that her mother has died. Lola was counting on her mother to continue financing her transformation from Lionel to Lola. She and Dad (impressive Benoît Magimel), have not spoken for 2 years, yet they decide to travel together to a Belgian seaside town to fulfill Mom’s last wishes and scatter her ashes from the beach. It’s a road trip distorted by pain, trauma, and memory, primarily by a father’s refusal to accept the transformation of his son Lionel into a daughter...
Mya Bollaers, the talented actress who plays Lola, is herself transgender.
