Young gendarme Paul Chartier investigates a series of child disappearances in Belgium during the 1990s. He is part of the operation known as Maldoror, an immersive surveillance of a repeat offender, and will confront the contradictions between principles and actions within the police force. Fabrice Du Welz delivers a thriller reminiscent of the sensationalized media coverage of certain Belgian crime stories. Anthony Bajon guides the audience much like a Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs, exploring the madness of humanity. This thriller has almost historical undertones, set in a Belgium where the internet, smartphones, and 24-hour news channels did not yet exist.
