Writer-director Sébastien Betbeder continues his magical journey through nouveau French cinema with his best film yet, an offbeat gem of a comedy centered on singles in their thirties. Vimala Pons (Marie), Pierre Rochefort (Siméon) and ex-footballer Éric Cantona (Antoine) give terrific performances as three lost souls looking for love.
When Siméon returns Marie’s lost wallet, he is instantly smitten by the charming and mysterious young woman. There’s a complication, though, a rivalry with an ex-boyfriend. Soon, all three end up on the tiny Ile de Groix, off the coast of Brittany. The bittersweet plotline advances subtly and ingeniously through flashbacks that Betbeder uses in creating an intimate group of endearing characters.
