1961. Nureyev, who will go down in history as one of the world’s greatest male ballet dancers, faces a terrible dilemma. He has to make an irrevocable choice, seek asylum in the West or remain in Russia surveyed closely by the KGB.
In a fascinating and engrossing portrayal of a legendary artist who lived a high-flying wire act, Oleg Ivenko brilliantly plays Nureyev. Adèle Exarchopoulos plays Clara Saint who introduces Nureyev to “le tout Paris” - he becomes obsessed by the city’s cultural and artistic life (and wild night-life!). Director Ralph Fiennes took 20 years to complete this story of a convention-breaker, an explosively inventive heroic dancer.
