The great André Téchiné spins the tale of 17-year-old Damien (Kacey Mottet Klein), the son of a military man. With his father frequently away on tours of duty, Damien stays up in the French Pyrenees with his mother, Marianne, a doctor. Damien is being led astray by Tom, a bullying high school buddy whose own mother has fallen ill. When Marianne (Sandrine Kiberlain) suggests that Tom temporarily move in with them, an extraordinary story of homosexual awakening, adolescent desire and turbulent teenage life begins.
Poignantly and expansively portrayed, this may be Téchiné’s best work yet. The sensitive script was co-authored by Téchiné and talented director Céline Sciamma.
