A director and his brother, a music journalist, are confined to the countryside in the house where they grew up. With them are their new partners. Each room, every object, the trees in the garden, and the paths winding through the underbrush remind them of their childhood memories and their ghosts. Olivier Assayas, who reunites several of his favorite actors, lightly reflects on the pandemic period. The pastoral landscapes, filmed like Impressionist paintings, are paired with dialogues that are sometimes melancholic and sometimes humorous, often playing on self-deprecation. A beautiful escape that occupies a unique place in the filmography of the director of Carlos, Sils Maria, and Les Destinées sentimentales.
