The birth of a baby in a fishing village on the Normandy coast sparks an intergalactic war. Bruno Dumont is one of the few Francophone filmmakers, alongside Michel Gondry, capable of creating stories deeply rooted in literature and science fiction cinema. While the homage to Star Wars is evident throughout the film, there are also hints of Ben-Hur. Dumont delivers an even more eccentric performance from Fabrice Luchini than usual, and Camille Cottin is a force to be reckoned with, rivaling the Reverend Mother portrayed by Charlotte Rampling in Denis Villeneuve's Dune. A Star Trek "made in Normandy"!
