A vendetta can easily cost him his life, yet 27 year-old Stéphane returns to Corsica from the safety of Paris in 2001 to attend the funeral of his childhood friend and former comrade-in-arms Christophe, who has just been assassinated. Stéphane reflects back on complex events in the history of Corsica of the 1990s, fraught with the violence of banditry and political radicalism of organizations like the Front de Liberation National Corse (FLNC). Stéphane, well-educated and from a good family in Bastia, spent 2 years in prison for helping to smuggle arms for some small-time racketeering buddies who were associated with militant independence movements - he evolved from delinquency to political radicalization and finally “a man on the run”.
