​He is now recognized as one of the most important French filmmakers in activity. His most renowned titles, Comment je me suis disputé… (ma vie sexuelle),Rois et reine, Un conte de Noël, Jimmy P (Psychothérapie d'un Indien des plaines), Les Fantômes d'Ismaël, Roubaix, une lumière have won numerous awards in France and elsewhere. He won the César for best director in 2016 for Trois souvenirs de ma jeunesse and the same year he was a member of the feature film jury at the 69th Cannes Film Festival, chaired by George Miller. His favorite actors include Mathieu Amalric, Emmanuelle Devos, Thibault de Montalembert, Denis Podalydès, Marion Cotillard and Léa Seydoux.
