ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR

Zahia Ziouani is one of the few women Conductors in France. Trained by the famous Maestro Sergiù Celibidache, she created at the age of 23 the Orchestre Symphonique Divertimento. She regularly produces with major figures (Raphaël Pidoux, Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian, Tedi Papavrami, Xavier Phillips, Déborah, Nemtanu, Sophie Koch, Ferrucio Furlanetto, Patrick Messina, Michel Moragues, Adam Laloum, Shani Diluka,…) in prestigious national and international places. She is invited to conduct many national and international orchestras in Europe and around the world. She conducted the National Orchestra of Algeria from 2006 to 2013. Deeply committed to giving access to symphonic music to everybody, she founded in 2008 the Divertimento Academy to train young people in careers as orchestral musicians.

She created Classiq’à Stains festival which she directs to offer excellent programming to audiences in Seine-Saint-Denis and allow young people to discover and practice classical music. She is also musical advisor for the artistic management of the “Demos” project, along with the Cité de la Musique. Her atypical career is illustrated in an autobiography La Chef d’orchestre published by Anne Carrière, and an iconographic book D’une Rive… l’Autre, published by ART charted her artistic and educational commitment in Seine-Saint-Denis.
