The 7th art is intimately linked to the effervescence of our city. The Cinémania festival contributes to the development of our national cinematography by showcasing the talent of our artisans around the world. Today, it is an essential meeting place for professionals in the Montréal film industry. As a francophone festival, it also plays an essential role in promoting Montréal as a French-speaking city and cultural metropolis.
I am very pleased that the city of Montréal is once again supporting this important event in its cultural calendar.
I would like to congratulate the Cinémania organization for the excellence of its work and for its ability to adapt to the challenges of the pandemic. This year's hybrid format will allow a return to theatres for part of the programming, while expanding its audience through its online viewing platform.
