We are very proud and honored to present the North American premiere of the film UNE RÉVISION which will open our 27th edition on November 2nd.The event is made possible by Sofitel Montreal Le Carré Doré, main partner of CINEMANIAFor the direction of this social drama, Catherine Therrien has surrounded herself with a 5-star cast including Patrice Robitaille (Father and Guns 2, Victor Lessard, Le Mirage, Les Invincibles), Nour Belkhiria (Antigone), Anne-Elisabeth Bossé (A Brother’s Love, Compulsive Liar), Rose-Marie Perreault (Flashwood, Suspect number one) but also Pierre Curzi, Rabah Aït Ouyahia, Édith Cochrane, Gabriel Sabourin, etc.
After several years of working in television, notably on the successful series DISTRICT 31, Catherine Therrien offers us here a hard-hitting, topical work that will not leave anyone indifferent...
The story of the film:
Étienne,a Cegep philosophy professor, teaches his students with passion. One day, Nacira, one of his students, puts into practice what he has taught them: questioning. Étienne and Nacira embark on a journey that challenges their deepest convictions.
Launched at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival and distributed in Quebec by Les Films Séville eOne, UNE RÉVISION will be released on November 2 at CINEMANIA and everywhere in Quebec starting November 4.

Three more titles unveiled
It is also a great pleasure for the CINEMANIA Film Festival to unveil the first titles of its 2021 program, all from the Official Selection of the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. Audiences will discover ON A HALF CLEAR MORNING directed by Bruno Dumont with Léa Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Colour) and Blanche Gardin (Delete History), which plunges us into a contemporary hyperconnected France by revealing a current picture of the French media world. Distributed by K-Films Amérique, ON A HALF CLEAR MORNING will be released across Quebec on November 5, 2021.
We are also lucky enough to present the film JANE BY CHARLOTTE (distributed by Maison 4:3), the first film directed by Charlotte Gainsbourg (Nymphomaniac, Ismael’s Ghosts) who delivers in this documentary a very touching portrait of the unique relationship between her and her mother Jane Birkin.
Finally, CINEMANIA is very pleased to present the film THE RESTLESS by Belgian director Joachim Lafosse (distributed by Axia Films) starring two great actors in the persons of Leila Bekhti (Sink or Swim) and Damien Bonnard (Les Misérables). This family drama tells the story of Damien, Leila and their son who live a seemingly happy life, but whose family home is in fact being eaten away by Damien's destructive bipolar disorder...
