JULIETTE BINOCHE GUEST OF HONOUR OF THE 31ST EDITION

An iconic actress of Francophone cinema on the international stage, Juliette Binoche was the guest of honour at the 31st edition of CINEMANIA.

A MAJOR PRESENCE

Juliette Binoche opened the festival on November 4, 2025, at the Monument-National in Montréal, marking the official launch of twelve days dedicated to Francophone cinema. During the evening, she was awarded the Prix du Rayonnement artistique, in recognition of her exceptional career and her contribution to the influence of Francophone cinema around the world.

A CONVERSATION WITH THE AUDIENCE

The actress took advantage of her visit to Montréal to present two films that reflect the richness and diversity of her career.

She first unveiled, in its North American premiere, In-I In Motion. In this work, Juliette Binoche and Akram Khan combine their creative worlds to offer a performance centered on the body and dance, which was performed more than a hundred times worldwide. Nearly twenty years later, the Oscar-winning actress returns to the genesis and artistic legacy of this work. For her directorial debut, Binoche crafts a documentary as unique as the original performance, asking questions about the very nature of creation. Rare archival footage and extensive performance and rehearsal excerpts allow a new audience to discover this milestone of contemporary stage art.

Juliette Binoche also presented Camille Claudel 1915 by Bruno Dumont, a defining role in her filmography. She portrays Camille Claudel, committed to a psychiatric hospital by her brother Paul. Torn between moments of clarity, paranoia, and artistic impulse, Dumont offers a gripping chronicle of her daily life during the three days of this long confinement.

While in Montréal, Juliette Binoche participated in several activities, including a press conference and a masterclass. These rich and inspiring moments allowed the audience to discover a passionate, curious artist deeply committed to sharing her craft.
