Biography

Alexandre Bougia was born between Paris and Casablanca, growing up within two cultures and two distinct perspectives on the world. From a young age, he navigated this land rich in nuance, where discipline meets softness and Northern light contrasts with Southern warmth. This endless movement has shaped his curiosity, making him attentive to details and deeply fascinated by contrasts. Very early on, he became passionate about imagery. Captivated by the narrative power of a shot, a cut, or a silence, he understood that a story could unfold without words. This realization led him toward cinema, first through advertising where he learned the importance of precision, rhythm, and visual efficiency. Gradually, documentary filmmaking emerged for him as a natural space—one of freedom, listening, and truth. As a director and editor, Alexandre seeks to depict reality with the sensitivity of fiction. His approach is rooted in a quest for authenticity, exploring raw emotions, imperfections, and beauty. Each project becomes an encounter, a dialogue between technique and instinct, structure and poetry. His cinema draws from everyday life, intersecting destinies, and traversed cities. He films to seize, share, understand, and convey. Through his images, he strives to capture what connects people beyond borders—a simple, luminous, and ever-moving humanity. Today, split between Paris and Casablanca, Alexandre Bougia follows the same creative drive that has animated him since childhood: making films that move, challenge, and leave a lasting impression. Ultimately, his aim is to offer audiences, within each work, a heartbeat, an emotion, and a light.
