Bruno Boëz has been active in the audiovisual industry for nearly 20 years. Holding a Master of Arts in directing, he began his career at the French National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC), working in arts education for young audiences before being propelled into key roles in film preservation. He helped develop a funding program for the restoration and digitization of films, which enabled over 1,000 works to return to today’s screens. In 2018, he was invited to support the creation of La Cinémathèque du documentaire, a public interest group based in Paris that promotes documentary film distribution across a national network of members. Since moving to Canada, he has worked in both production and programming, and conducted a study on Canadian heritage cinema that formed the basis for a national conference and a set of policy recommendations inspired by the French model, in collaboration with the Canadian Film Institute and the French Embassy. He is also a film critic for a Canadian Francophone media outlet specializing in cinema and serves on the board of directors of the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (FCCF).
