A prominent figure in Quebec’s media landscape, France Castel has enjoyed a long career as an actress, singer, and television host since her beginnings as a singer in the 1960s. Since 1975, France Castel has graced the stages of Quebec’s most renowned theatres. In 1980, she portrayed Stella Spotlight in the Quebec production of Luc Plamondon’s rock opera Starmania. As an actress, France Castel knows how to make audiences both laugh and feel deeply moved. Over her prolific career, she has appeared in Les super mamies, He shoots, he scores, Omerta, Sous un ciel variable, and Du tac au tac. More recently, she has been seen in the series Fragments and Can you hear me ?. On the big screen, France Castel has acted in around forty films since her debut in Jean Bissonnette’s Tiens-toi bien après les oreilles à Papa in 1971. She has appeared in seven feature films directed by André Forcier, in Claude Lelouch’s Chance or coincidence, Robert Morin’s May God bless America, and more recently in Éric Tessier’s You will remember me. Gifted with a natural talent for hosting, France Castel has charmed television audiences as host of Deux filles le matin on TVA and Pour le plaisir on Radio-Canada.
