Biography

Guillaume de Fontenay began his career as an assistant director with Gilles Maheu before becoming a stage director and scenographer. He went on to direct over two hundred award-winning commercials in Canada and abroad. He also designed the scenography for "Warhol Live", a major retrospective co-produced by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Andy Warhol Museum, and the de Young Museum in San Francisco. His debut feature, Sympathy for the Devil (2019) — a France-Canada-Belgium co-production inspired by war reporter Paul Marchand — was acclaimed by critics and won nearly twenty awards in Canada, France, Italy, Belgium, and Spain.
