Biography

A graduate of the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal, Isabelle Blais excels across all mediums. On television, she has stood out in numerous productions including Les bracelets rouges, Faits divers, La confrérie, Au secours de Béatrice, Trauma, and C.A. She has won two Gémeaux Awards for her performances in the series Bête noire and L’échappée. She also appears regularly in the daily drama Stat. In film, she has appeared in Soft shell man (Un crabe dans la tête), The barbarian invasions (Les invasions barbares) , Love and magnets (Les Aimants), A kiss from the beard (Le Baiser du barbu), and Tadoussac. She received two Jutra Awards—first for her role in Québec-Montréal, and then for her powerful portrayal of Kiki in Borderline. She has also made her mark on stage, notably in Oslo (directed by Édith Patenaude), The Good Person of Szechwan (La bonne âme du Se-Tchouan) (Lorraine Pintal), Midsummer (Philippe Lambert), as well as Hamlet, Twelfth night, and Romeo and Juliet. She won a Masque Award in 2003 for her performance as La Rose in Au cœur de la rose, directed by Denis Marleau. Also a singer-songwriter, Isabelle was the lead of the band Caïman Fu and is now part of the collective Comme dans un film.
