Biography

Jérémie Renier made his screen debut at the age of 15 in The promise by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne. The film caused a sensation at the Cannes Film Festival in 1996, and his performance did not go unnoticed. He was then seen in François Ozon’s Criminal lovers and Bertrand Bonello’s The pornographer. In 2005, he had a major breakthrough with his leading role in the Dardenne brothers’ The child, which won the Palme d’or at Cannes. A sought-after actor by both French and Belgian filmmakers, he notably collaborated with Florent Emilio Siri, delivering a stunning performance in Cloclo. Building on his growing success, Jérémie crossed into English-language cinema with Joe Wright’s Atonement. Drawing on this wealth of acting experience, he went behind the camera with his brother Yannick Renier to co-direct the gripping thriller Carnivores.
