Biography

Juliette Binoche approaches travel as if she came from every corner of the world. Her instinctive journey through the heart of global creation has made her an essential presence among a constellation of filmmakers without borders: Michael Haneke (Austria), David Cronenberg and Abel Ferrara (United States), Olivier Assayas, Leos Carax and Claire Denis (France), Amos Gitai (Israel), Naomi Kawase and Hirokazu Kore-eda (Japan), Krzysztof Kie?lowski (Poland), Hou Hsiao-hsien (Taiwan), Trân Anh Hùng (Vietnam), and Abbas Kiarostami (Iran)… Crowned with the most prestigious awards, she nevertheless does not seek virtuosity, but rather a mysterious connection between her inner world and the desire to give of herself. Her constant need for renewal in her art continually drives her toward greater freedom. She takes charge of her destiny in both cinema and theater (Andrei Konchalovski, Ivo Van Hove, Wajdi Mouawad), and devotes herself equally to music (Vaille que vivre, with Alexandre Tharaud), poetry and painting (Portraits In-Eyes, Ed. Place des Victoires), dance (IN-I, with Akram Khan), and most recently, the direction of her first documentary film, In-I In Motion.
