Biography

Maky Madiba Sylla is a Senegalese filmmaker, director, screenwriter, and producer. Founder of Linkering Productions, he has established himself as a major figure in contemporary documentary filmmaking in Senegal. Trained at the Birmingham Film Institute in the United Kingdom, he dedicates his work to memory, culture, and prominent African figures. His notable films include El Maestro Laba Sosseh, Amath Dansokho - Il chantait rouge, Essamaay Bocandé la Panthère, and Boubacar Boris Diop - Retour à Murambi. Also a reggae artist under the name Daddy Maky, he uses his art to serve memory, freedom, and African identity.
