Mylène Mackay is an actress graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada. Shortly after graduating in 2011, she founded the feminist theatre company Bye Bye Princesse with her close collaborators Marie-Pier Labrecque and Thomas Payette. Creation and dance have always been at the heart of her theatrical practice. It was with her partners and the play Elles XXx, the company’s first production directed by Pierre Bernard, that she embraced the pleasure (and terror) of speaking on stage in a more political form of writing resembling a manifesto. In 2015, she also co-wrote the play Je te vois me regarder with Victoria Diamond, directed by Alice Ronfard and Benoit Rioux. On stage, she appeared in the play Bonjour, là bonjour by Michel Tremblay, directed by Claude Poissant, and in Chansons pour filles et garçons perdus by Loui Mauffette. Since graduating, she has also been seen on Quebec television in several series such as Les beaux malaises (Francis Leclerc), Victor Lessard (Patrice Sauvé), Faits divers (Stéphane Lapointe), Mensonges (Francis Leclerc), Les honorables (Louis Choquette), Sans rendez-vous (Patrice Ouimet), Le 422 (Benoit Lach), Patrick Senécal présente (Stéphane Lapointe), Transplant (Podz/Kim Nguyen), and recently Avant le crash (Stéphane Lapointe). She was also featured in the successful web series L’Âge adulte (François Jaros/Guillaume Lambert), for which she won a Gémeaux Award for Best Lead Role in a Comedy. On the big screen, she has appeared in several films including Endorphine by André Turpin, Embrasse-moi comme tu m’aimes and Les fleurs oubliées by André Forcier, Mafia Inc. by Podz, Genèse by Philippe Lesage, and Nelly by Anne Émond, for which she won the Best Actress award at the Gala Québec Cinéma. That same year, she was named a TIFF Rising Star, highlighting the best of the brightest performances in the Canadian film industry. She is currently part of the cast of Dis-moi pourquoi ces choses sont si belles, the upcoming film by Lyne Charlebois, set to be released this fall.
