Biography

Philippe Gautier holds a BTS in Audiovisual Studies and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III. He specialized in audiovisual production by enrolling in the Master’s program at the National Audiovisual Institute (INA) and completing the D2A Master’s in Law, Economics, and Audiovisual Management at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, graduating in 2023. In 2021, Philippe Gautier organized a virtual masterclass to mark the 30th anniversary of the cult film Delicatessen, bringing together directors Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro, producer Claudie Ossard, and actor Jean-Claude Dreyfus. The following year, in 2022, he dedicated the event to actor Jean Rochefort, originally from Dinan, with a special focus on emerging actors. Italian actress Anna Galiena chaired the jury and presented The Hairdresser’s Husband during the closing ceremony, while Clémence Rochefort, the actor’s daughter, was the guest of honour and presented the first Jean Rochefort Award for Best Performance. In 2024, he organized a tribute to Michel Blanc following the actor’s passing, inviting Patrice Leconte to chair the jury, which notably presented Monsieur Hire. The festival features a competition of around thirty short films from across the French-speaking world, with a strong focus on youth—both the young filmmakers and their performers. Alongside the Official Selection, additional themed screenings are organized, along with initiatives aimed at young audiences. In 2023, the festival welcomed over 3,200 attendees. Originally rooted in the Breton arts scene, the festival has quickly gained national and international recognition. It has hosted renowned figures such as directors Patrice Leconte, Jean Becker, Jacques Doillon, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Nathan Ambrosioni; film critics and journalists like Philippe Rouyer and Patrick Poivre d’Arvor; and numerous actors and actresses, including Anna Galiena, Antoine Duléry, Lucie Lucas, Axel Auriant, and many others.
