Biography

Saïda lives in Toronto, but it was on the West Coast that she fully embraced her passion for documentary filmmaking. From her very first film, Pluri’Elles, she gave a voice to Francophone women from the Global South, capturing the realities of immigration with nuance and humanity. Her exploration of Canada’s cultural richness and evolving society continued with Demain, nous parlerons tous chinois. Her most recent film, In full voice, produced by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), challenges stereotypes surrounding Muslim women in Canada. Migration, multiple identities, and women’s experiences form the common thread of a body of work that is committed, sensitive, and deeply rooted in personal storytelling. Saïda is currently developing a fiction project, a series entitled Pourquoi y a-t-il autant de Français au Canada?
