For the first time, in celebration of its 30th anniversary, the Festival is launching CINEMANIA VR, a space dedicated to creative exploration in virtual reality. Six immersive works, blending innovation, heritage, and contemporary stories, offer a unique experience where each viewer can dive into unseen worlds. Combining technology and imagination, these creations push the boundaries of visual and sensory storytelling. An exceptional opportunity to explore as part of Novembre Numérique.
From November 7 to 10: CINEMANIA VR with five works, and from November 12 to 16: Encounters with Mathieu Pradat.
Encounters is a sensory journey through space and time, connecting a "modern" world—saturated and stifling—to a peaceful future where dialogue and self-awareness take center stage. The experience, designed for 8 participants equipped with virtual reality headsets, unfolds in a 10m x 5m space, offering various interactions. In the epilogue, an asynchronous dialogue allows each participant to speak to a future viewer, for just a breath. The goal is to reconnect with a simple, almost naive idea: that of a coordinated collective action, rooted in dialogue and, above all, in listening.

On April 15, 2019, the fire that devastated Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris evoked immense emotion. While the cathedral undergoes restoration, Ubisoft offers an immersive virtual tour through Assassin’s Creed Unity. Recreated in 3D with 5,000 hours of work and historical data, this experience allows viewers to explore Notre-Dame from perspectives inaccessible to the public, such as the roof and flying buttresses, while being immersed in an 18th-century Paris, accompanied by the sound of the Cavaillé-Coll organ.

Ito Meikyū is a virtual reality experience inspired by references from Japanese art and literature history (The Fukinuki Yatai, The Tale of Genji, The Pillow Book), unfolding as a large sensory fresco with strong emotional impact. This heterogeneous collection of drawn, animated, and sound scenes is embedded in digital matter, recreating a subjective world (inner and outer worlds) as a labyrinth composed of fractal architectures filled with plants, objects, animals, men, women, patterns, and calligraphy. The exploratory virtual space allows access to various scenes through random choices, initiating a kind of hide-and-seek with a universe in which we are the omniscient viewer-voyeur.
