A strong commitment to a safe and respectful space for everyone.

OBJECTIVE

The CINEMANIA Francophone Film Festival is committed to creating a healthy, inclusive, and safe space for everyone. The festival strongly condemns any form of harassment, violence, discrimination, sexism, or threats, and actively works to prevent such behaviors.

PREVENTION

Two types of groups share the responsibility of maintaining a safe environment : the management team and Board of Directors, as well as all participants and stakeholders involved in the event.

This policy operates within the framework of applicable Quebec laws, notably the Act Respecting Labour Standards(provisions on psychological harassment), the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, and any other relevant legislation aimed at protecting the dignity and integrity of individuals.

1. The CINEMANIA Festival, as an employer, along with members of the management team and Board of Directors, share the following responsibilities :

  • Inform that all forms of harassment (verbal, physical, psychological, and sexual) are prohibited within the festival.
  • Annually appoint two designated contact persons who act independently and impartially, accessible before and during the festival. These individuals must not be part of the permanent team and must not hold a management position.
  • Ensure that all reports are handled seriously, promptly, and confidentially.
  • Implement appropriate corrective measures when required.
  • Lead by example by adopting respectful behavior at all times.
  • Provide listening and support to anyone affected by a complaint or assault, while ensuring confidentiality.

2. The festival team, interns, volunteers, partners, audience members, artists, service providers, and guests share the following responsibilities :

  • Adopt respectful behavior towards everyone present.
  • Report any abnormal situation or any breach of the prevention policy.
  • Respect the confidentiality of individuals who have reported a complaint or assault.
  • Actively contribute to creating an inclusive and safe environment, ensuring diversity and mutual respect.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES

To ensure a healthy, respectful, and inclusive environment, the CINEMANIA Festival implements several concrete measures :

  • Raising awareness among staff and volunteers on issues of harassment, discrimination, and violence.
  • Two designated contacts (one woman and one man) will be available and easily identifiable before and during the festival.
  • Reminding all stakeholders of expected behaviors and the festival’s values.
  • Commitment to a work environment based on respect, listening, and kindness.

REPORTING

Anyone who believes they are a victim or witness of harassment, discrimination, or violence is encouraged to come forward.

Reports can be made to the contact(s) person(s) designated by the festival. Each case will be treated with seriousness, attentiveness, and confidentiality, and will be followed up appropriately, respecting strict confidentiality at all times.

COMMITMENT

The CINEMANIA Festival reaffirms its commitment to providing a safe and respectful environment for everyone. No inappropriate behavior will be tolerated. The festival is committed to acting with rigor and responsibility to protect the integrity and well-being of all.
