Jawad and Belka share the same home country but, more importantly, the same passion: Camargue racing, a non-lethal contest between man and bull. Jérémie Battaglia delivers a striking documentary on racism, integration, and assimilation, using the heart of the Camargue and its traditional races as a lever for emancipation. Jawad and Belka speak little, but everything they say is impactful in a film that avoids clichés and commonplaces. It portrays a generation of immigrant sons who are too Arab to be French, yet too French to be Arab. A wonderful essay on transmission.
