November 1919. Two survivors of the trenches, one a bank-clerk, the other a brilliant designer, form an unlikely bond after a near death experience in the last days of WWl. In the rush of post-war profiteering, veterans are forgotten, and the resentment of these two turns to anger. They hatch a desperate scheme – if it works, they stand to make a fortune, and if it fails they’ll face prison and perhaps worse.
Director/Co-Screenwriter Albert Dupontel with author Pierre Lemaitre, Prix Goncourt 2013, adapted his best-selling novel. A stellar cast, great costume & set design, make this magnificent film an early contender for the 2017 French award ceremonies--it already received a standing ovation at Angoulême.
