A family home in the countryside, with typical Quebec architecture, is the main character in Renée Beaulieu's new film (Les Salopes ou le sucre naturel de la peau, Le Garagiste), which unfolds over ten years. The house was built by a loving father (François Papineau), who gradually sees a distance grow between himself, his three children, his wife, and his own mother (France Castel). Over time, the man witnesses births, departures, returns, separations, and deaths. This ensemble drama, filmed in the Laurentians, explores themes of transmission and the persistence of family ties, despite unspoken truths and conflicts.
