great
emotional
maturity,
The
Young
Lovers
aligns
itself
with
the
greatest
melodramas
that
cinema
has
given
us,
all
the
while
avoiding
the
banality
that
its
subject
matter
might
consider.
Carried
by
two
exceptional
actors,
namely
Fanny
Ardant
and
Melvil
Poupaud,
the
film
also
owes
a
great
deal
to
the
rest
of
the
cast
who
support
and
showcase
them,
including
amongst
others
Cécile
de
France
and
Florence
Loiret-
Caille.
Indeed,
Carine
Tardieu’s
last
film
(La
Tête
de
Maman)
is
as
much
about
those
who
are
affected
by
this
sudden
and
unique
affair
as
it
is
about
the
couple
itself.
This
is
a
magnificent
film
about
love,
but
also
about
the
opportunity
to
rediscover
oneself
and
to
fully
appreciate
life,
no
matter
one’s
age.
