October 1918. World War I drags on. Luise, a 25-year-old woman, lives on an isolated farm in Alsace, which has been part of German territory for 50 years. Hélène, a young French woman on the run to the Netherlands, finds refuge there, pursued by a German soldier she had injured for a mysterious reason. He finds her and forces his way into the farm, even if it makes him a deserter. Luise agrees to shelter them without knowing anything about their past. A dangerous three-way game unfolds.
