CINEMANIA’s
opinion
:
Rescuing
from
oblivion
lives
considered
unimportant:
Such
is
Alice
Diop’s
approach
all
along
this
B
line
which,
from
Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle
to
Saint-Remy-les-Cheuvreuse,
links
territories
and
inhabitants
that
are
seemingly
opposite.
But
the
director
links
the
stories
of
citizens
who
don’t
know
each
other.
In
the
face
of
impulses
of
community,
those
that
are
seemingly
incompatible
form
a
possible
“we”
in
which
the
director
assumes
her
part
of
“I”.
Alice
Diop
takes
the
opportunity
to
tell
her
family
story,
that
of
her
immigrant
parents
consumed
by
a
life
of
hard
labour.
Under
her
empathetic
gaze,
“small
lives”,
as
humble
as
they
seem,
become
immense.
